Playgrounds

We have three separate, age-appropriate playgrounds with shade tree-covered play areas and tricycle trails, that encourage Free Play. All playgrounds allow children to enjoy the fresh air as they develop balance and coordination, along with motor skills as they climb, jump, slide, walk and run around the activity areas. The children develop social skills with peers, learn about rules and order and continue to develop new skills such as exploration, creativity and imagination.

Outside Play

Outside play is an integral part of a child’s learning process. Except during extreme weather conditions, all children will have an opportunity to participate in outside activities. We will determine outdoor activities based on several considerations including temperature, wind chill factor, precipitation, humidity and age of children. If a child must remain indoors for medical reasons, other arrangements for childcare should be made. Extra personnel are not available to care for children one-on-one. It is a requirement by the state that ALL children have outdoor play.

Clothing

Children should be dressed in comfortable, casual clothes that are washable and suitable for active play both indoors and outdoors. Clothing should allow children easy manipulation to encourage self-help skills. Belts hinder and delay the child’s ability in the bathroom. Shoes should fit well and be safe for playground activities. Boots, cleats, flip-flops and some sandals are inappropriate for many outside play activities. All items from home should be clearly marked with your child’s name.
